There Has Been No Much Concern From UK Concerning Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's Welfare - IPOB Lawyer

Kanu's lawyer, Mr Ifeanyi Ejiofor has given update concerning his client's case on Arise TV

The lawyer to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, x-rayed issues related to the abduction and trial of IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor during his interview on Arise TV maintained that his client, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was abducted from Kenya. Something that is illegal in the eyes of the law. He drew a line between "arrest" and "abduction." He noted that Sunday Igboho was arrested in Benin Republic and his case is being treated by the court as it should be. But Kanu was not arrested but abducted in Kenya and smuggled into Nigeria without following due process as stipulated by international laws.

Also, he stated that when Kanu was abducted in Kenya, his family and members were searching for him, not knowing his whereabouts. The IPOB Leader was hidden somewhere in Kenya for 8 days before being brought to Nigeria.

Further more, Mr Ejiofor also confirmed that some supporters of Kanu who gathered at the court premises yesterday were arrested. They had got some of them released. The Nigeria government also arrested some supporters of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who were on their way out of Abuja.

The lawyer noted that unlike in 2015 to 2017 when Kanu was detained, the UK has not taken interest in the welfare of Kanu this time around. He said that between 2015 and 2017, the UK officials would visit Kanu every two or three days or call his lawyer to make enquiries concerning his welfare and his case. But this time around, there has been none of such show of concern from the UK despite Kanu being their citizen who renounced his Nigerian citizenship five years ago.

In addition, he stated that contrary to the fresh allegations made by Mr Malami, Nigeria's attorney-general, no new charges had been filed against Kanu by the Nigeria Federal Government.
